ARCHITECTURALRENOVATION OF A MODERNIST FLAT

Modernist flat located in Valencia’s city center in a historic building completed in 1940, with a total area of 100 square meters. The original mosaic flooring has been preserved and specially treated, becoming the property’s new defining feature. Preexisting suspended ceilings were removed so as to expose the original high ceiling surrounded by traditional molding. The lighting fixtures were designed with pendant cords that merge with the characteristic traditional atmosphere. The original decorative molding from the 40’s has been put in value through the installation of a perimeter V-shaped wooden element that allocates a continuous lighting strip which emphasizes this twentieth century iconic ceiling design. Wooden materials have been given priority so as to create a unified inner space with a distinctive but traditional look.  The election of minimalist furniture elaborated with warm materials seeks to achieve a balance between tradition and modernity without compromising the original modernist essence and style of the apartment.
